Asian-Style Crispy Garlic Chicken
Ingredients:
1.5 lbs (about 700g) chicken thighs or chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
-
6 garlic cloves, finely minced
-
2 tbsp soy sauce
-
1 tbsp oyster sauce
-
1 tbsp rice vinegar
-
1 tsp sesame oil
-
1 tbsp sugar or honey
-
½ tsp ground white pepper
-
½ cup cornstarch or potato starch
-
Vegetable oil for deep frying
-
2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)
-
Red chili slices (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
-
Marinate Chicken: In a bowl, mix chicken pieces with soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, sugar, and white pepper. Let marinate for at least 20–30 minutes.
-
Prepare for Frying: Toss the marinated chicken pieces in cornstarch until fully coated.
-
Fry Chicken: Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry chicken pieces in batches until golden and crispy, about 4–5 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
-
Make Garlic Topping: In a separate pan, add 1 tbsp oil. Sauté minced garlic over low heat until golden and crispy (be careful not to burn it).
-
Final Assembly: Toss the fried chicken with crispy garlic. Garnish with sliced green onions and optional red chili slices.
-
Serve: Serve hot with steamed rice, fried rice, or noodles.
