Asian-Style Crispy Garlic Chicken

Ingredients:

1.5 lbs (about 700g) chicken thighs or chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces

  • 6 garlic cloves, finely minced

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce

  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar

  • 1 tsp sesame oil

  • 1 tbsp sugar or honey

  • ½ tsp ground white pepper

  • ½ cup cornstarch or potato starch

  • Vegetable oil for deep frying

  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

  • Red chili slices (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Marinate Chicken: In a bowl, mix chicken pieces with soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, sugar, and white pepper. Let marinate for at least 20–30 minutes.

  2. Prepare for Frying: Toss the marinated chicken pieces in cornstarch until fully coated.

  3. Fry Chicken: Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry chicken pieces in batches until golden and crispy, about 4–5 minutes. Drain on paper towels.

  4. Make Garlic Topping: In a separate pan, add 1 tbsp oil. Sauté minced garlic over low heat until golden and crispy (be careful not to burn it).

  5. Final Assembly: Toss the fried chicken with crispy garlic. Garnish with sliced green onions and optional red chili slices.

  6. Serve: Serve hot with steamed rice, fried rice, or noodles.
